On the recommendation of the Chancellor of Trisakti University, Prof. Dr. Thoby Mutis, at that time in 2006/2007 in order to establish and open a Higher Education in Fine Arts and Design at the Strata 2 level in the Master in Design field.

In the context of community service, fulfilling the desire to achieve global and diverse knowledge, the 2006/2007 academic year opened the Master of Design (Visual Art) Program at Trisakti University which was chaired by Prof. Yusuf Affendi D., MA graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology and graduated from the USA Rochester Institute of Technology, New York.

At the beginning of the first and second years, the students came from internal Trisakti University, after the third year until now students from all over Indonesia are interested, especially from the island of Java and Sumatra. Likewise students from universities in Europe and ASEAN country such as from Germany, UK and Malaysia. Design Science or Visual Art which is growing rapidly, as well as lecturers from well-known universities in the country as well as lecturers from abroad have attracted students to study Masters in Design at Trisakti University which turned out to be the first private university that has a Masters in Design (Visual Art) Program in Indonesia.
